Summer Practice AutoX #3 08.11.03

Reminder: the third Practice AutoX is marked for the weekend of August 23/24!

Procedure is the usual: gates open at 9:00 AM and registration will be open until 12:00. Cost is $5 per day for members, and $10 per day for non-members. As with all TAMSCC practice events, there will be unlimited runs on two available courses with the timers set up on one. If this will be your first TAMSCC event this year, please have this form filled out before you arrive to help speed up the registration process.

If you would like to help set up the course, contact our AutoX chair Wade Zimmer: 979-777-3419, zimmer_5oh @ yahoo.com. Event entry will be free for anyone who helps set up!

Also, AutoX #2 has been rescheduled to October 5 (originally Oct. 12), so mark your calendars!

Autocross Sunday! 04.05.03
Sunday, April 13th, we will have our last autocross of the semester.

The usual autocross specifics apply, gate opens at 9am, cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members.  If you haven't filled out an insurance form this school year, download it off the web, fill it out, and bring it to the registration table outside the Annex gate Sunday morning.

For more info and a map to the annex, check out the auto-x page.

Day Rallye Saturday! 04.05.03
From Mr. Ben:

"Saturday April 12th is the scheduled date for the Day Rallye. The Rallye will depart from
Parking Area 51(Zachry Lot) at 10:00 am. We will return to this location later on that
afternoon following the rallye!
The Day Rally is a "mildly" lengthened rally (as compared to our typical night rallies),
though the complete circuit through the rallye and back to Area 51consumed LESS than
a complete tank of fuel in an LS1 Z-28 being "aggressively"driven.

Each participant should bring ~$20 for a food and "entertainment" (though, those that
are expressly hard up might be able to prevail upon some friend, and shouldn't let this
dissuade them from coming out to play). Additionally, bring Frisbees, balls to toss
around, and the like, as we will lunch in a park (like) area. Food, in this area, may
be acquired for ~$5 a plate... if you wish to bring your own, however, feel free to do so.

If you have no wheels, come team up with someone as a navigator, and likewise, if you
have no wish to drive, no navigator, etc... come on out and run it with someone new!
The more the merrier! Navigators and passengers, please offer to share the cost
of any fuel with your drivers."

Night Rallye Friday! 04.02.03
Friday, April 4th, will be our 4th night rallye of the semester.  Come on out and have a good time.  If you can't find a navigator or driver, e-mail the list!

We'll meet at Zachry Lot (PA 51) at 6:30pm (or meet for dinner earlier, watch the e-mail list) and the first car will be out around 7pm.

For more info, see the rallye page

Drag Racing Wednesday! 03.27.02
Wednesday, April 2nd we will be heading down to Navasota Raceway for some 1/8 mile action.

Cost is $13 to race, $7 to watch.

So come on out, nominate some peeps (or yourself), hear about the autocross and the rallye, and have a good ol' time.

Campus Cross Rained Out 03.22.03
Apologies to those who went out today to see Campus Cross.  Due to conditions beyond our control (the rain), we were unable to run the course.

Autocross Sunday! 03.16.03
Sunday, March 23rd is the third autocross of the semester.

Aggie Night 03.01.03
I am unsure of the status of Aggie Night.  Judging from the recent weather, I'd bet it's not open.  I've tried calling them and there is still no answer, just the answering machine message from Sunday.

If you'd like to try calling them to get an answer, the number is 936-825-8725.  If you find out anything new, please post it to the e-mail list.

Wednesday, March 5th, we will be having Aggie Night down at Navasota Raceway.  Come on down for some 1/8 mile drag racing fun.

Costas-Cross! 02.15.03
Yes folks, that's right, Costas-Cross (tm) is doing a reunion tour!  Come see all your old favorites like "Hey where'd that cone come from?" and "I ran out of gas towards the finish!"

In case you have no clue what I'm talking about, Autocross # 2 (Sunday, February 23rd) will be designed by our own Paul Costas.  Past Costas-Crosses have been some of the longest and most challenging (and fun) autocross courses.

All normal stuff applies like a regular autocross.  Gate opens at 9am, registration ends at 10am.  For more info, a map to the annex, and a link to the insurance form you must fill out (if you haven't already filled one out), check out the autocross page.

This one is promised to be ALL new and lots of fun.

So what's a TAMSCC Scavenger Hunt?  Teams of 3 or 4 people are given a list of items to find around town that are worth a certain amount of points each.  Find as many items as you can in the allotted time, and the team with the most points win.  Items can range from Papa John's garlic sauce to Mustang pistons.

If you don't want to caravan with us (fine, be that way!), here are the directions from HRP's website: directions

We have a new sponsor for the club, QuickPix Imaging.

If you were at the last autocross, you probably noticed the large RV with the computers set up next to it.  They were taking pictures of the participants cars and selling prints of them.  $2 of every sale is donated to the club.  The prints are awesome, as those of you who saw them on Sunday know.

So if you're out at the next autocross and see them there, go get a sweet pic of your ride in action and support them and the club!

OD 101 and Auto-x # 1! 09.08.2002
This Saturday, September 14th, we will be having our Offensive Driving 101 class at the Riverside Annex.  OD101 is an instruction class taught by older, more experienced members of the club telling you all about autocrossing, how to read the course, and general information.  Afterwards, you will have a chance to ride through with an instructor to see the course and then get in your own car and run the course all day long.  Cost for Saturday is $$FREE$$

Sunday, September 15th, we will be having the first autocross of the semester.  The gate will be open at 8am, and racing will start around 10am.  Cost for Sunday is $10 for members, $15 for non-members.

**IMPORTANT**
Most of you have filled out the insurance waiver, however, every new school year requires you to fill out a new one.  So even if you've filled one out at the last practice auto-x, you need to fill out a new one for the new school year. And if you've never filled one out before, download them here:
Page1 (HTML)
Page2 (HTML)
PDF File (Both Pages)

Both meetings will contain the same information, so you only need to attend one.  However, you may attend two if you find you just can't get enough of us.  We will most likely be heading out to a group dinner afterwards (probably Sonic) to show off our rides and socialize (it's true!).

Also on Sept. 10th & 11th we will be having car shows during the day from 8am to 4pm.  We'll be out at Rudder Fountain, so come out and get your tan on (sunburn).
